VALLIE V. PAYNE (Mrs. Van Porter Enloe, Sr.) Vallie (née Payne) was Mr. Enloe's first wife, and mother to all of his children. Vallie died when her children were young. Van Porter Enloe's second wife was Mamie Shepherd Benson. Vallie's parents William Miller Payne and Elizabeth Evelyn Bice Payne were married on April 21, 1869 in Dayton, Tennessee. Vallie's descendants correctly inform that Vallie is buried in Senoia City Cemetery, Senoia, Coweta County, Georgia. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Payne-5157 Van Porter Enloe, Sr. and his wife Vallie V. (Payne) Enloe also lived in Buchanan, Georgia, where some of their children were born. Van Porter Enloe, Sr. was probably born in Mississippi. Hannah Retsch Enloe was the widow of Dr. Alfred Enloe, of Atlanta. Alfred was a son of Dr. Gillespie Enloe, DMD. As young adults, two of Vallie's daughters lived in Atlanta with Hannah. She used the names Louise Stearns-White and Louise White after she and her first husband divorced. His wife was Patti Wright McGhee Enloe. She was from Pennsylvania. Vallie Enloe Greene was born on May 4, 1917. She was named for her mother, who died soon after young Vallie was born. Reared by her father and second wife, Mamie Shepherd Benson Enloe, the only "mother" young Vallie ever knew. Vallie lived with Hannah Retsch Enloe while a college student in Atlanta. James William "Bill" Greene was born 27 October 1917 in Gainesville, Hall County, Georgia. Bill Greene died October 7, 2005, aged 87, in Austell, Georgia. No children are listed as surviving him. He had remarried to "Bunny". Vallie and Bill Greene are buried in the Greene Family plot in Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia - Plot: Section 9. Mamie was the younger daughter of only two children born (in Macon, Bibb County, Georgia) to Hattie Eliza Freeman and Thomas Brewer Benson. Mamie's only sibling was her elder sister Lula May Benson (Mrs. Nelson Huntley Parker, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia). Vallie V. Payne Enloe was survived by several children and has descendants. Vallie is the mother to Van Porter Enloe, Sr.'s children.
