Grand Island (Nebraska) Herald; Thursday 22 February 1933, page 1 Joseph L. Tiff dies After Long Illness Joseph L. Tiff, veteran of the Spanish-American war, and a member of the State Soldiers' Home for the past seven years, died Tuesday morning following an extended illness. Mr. Tiff lived on North Broadwell street and was admitted to the hospital for treatments for diabetes. Mr. Tiff was born in Lancaster county on August 14, 1871, and at the time of his death he was 61 years, six months and seven days old. He served in Co. M., First Nebraska infantry from May 9, 1898 to December 12, 1898. He was admitted to membership in the home from Custer county on October 22, 1925. His wife by a first marriage, Jeanette, died October 31, 1931, and he married a second time on July 12, 1932. Surviving are his wife, a sister, Christina Ladduke at Broken Bow, and a brother, John Tiff, of Ansley, Neb. Funeral arrangements have been completed, and services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 from the Soldiers' Home chapel. Burial will be in the G.A.R. plot. The services will be conducted by the I.O.O.F. of which order the deceased was a loyal member. From 10 to 12 o'clock Thursday the body will lie in state at the Evan funeral chapel.
