► Obituary Amarillo Globe-News, Nov. 18, 2007 Joan Worthen Green¹, 65, of Amarillo died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Dick Marcear, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Joan was born July 15, 1942, in Childress to Raymond and Lillian Worthen, both deceased. She was a 1960 graduate of Palo Duro High School in Amarillo and a 1989 graduate of Tulsa Junior College in Tulsa, Okla., with an associate degree in legal studies. Her professional career was spent mostly in the legal field. Her first job was in the Court of Civil Appeals in Amarillo. Among her employers in Tulsa were attorney Brent Blackstock, the law firms of Gardere Wynn and Sewell, Joyce Paul McDaniel, the Miller Keffer law firm and biZe-Legal Solutions. Although she spent many years in the legal profession, and the last 20 months of her life were spent battling cancer, Joan believed that her greatest goal and greatest accomplishment was raising her three sons. It is as a mother that she wishes to be remembered. Although she ultimately lost her battle with pancreatic cancer, Joan would like to thank the people and organizations who helped her fight: the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers in Denver, Navitas Cancer Rehabilitation Centers in Denver, The Denver Hospice and the many talented, professional and caring doctors, nurses and staff members who helped along the way. Survivors include three sons, Kevin Green² of Tulsa and Brent Green and Christopher Green of Denver; two daughters-in-law, Linda Green of Barnsdall, Okla., and Christy Green of Denver; three grandchildren, Jessica Green and Courtney Green, both of Barnsdall, and Justin Green of Denver; three siblings and their spouses, Linda and Bob Bouyea, Robert Worthen and Bill and Tricia Worthen, all of Amarillo; her former husband, Steve Green of Denver; numerous nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be earmarked for pancreatic cancer research to the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center Foundation, RMCC Foundation, 1161 S. Vivian St., Lakewood, CO 80228; or Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, OU Foundation, in care of Daniel J. Brackett, Surgery / OUHSC, ORB 334, 1122 N.E. 13th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73117. ► Genealogical Citations • 1950 United States Census, Form P1 "1950 Census of Population and Housing", Texas, Potter County, Enumeration District 255-13, Amarillo, Sheet 75, Line 28, "Worthen, Betty J" ► Memorial Maintainer Footnotes ¹ Full legal name Betty Joan Worthen Green.
