Everett Melvin Cook was born July 10, 1920 to Frances (Martens) and Mellie (Dutch) Cook in Pekin, Tazewell County, Illinois. He married Ida Mae Jones in Iowa in 1937. They divorced. He spent most of his younger years with his Aunt and Uncle Sunie and Willie Steinberger in Kentucky. When war broke out on December 7, 1941 Everett was at the enlistment center the morning of December 9, 1941. He fought in the European theatre throughout the war. In 1950 He married Elsie P. (Bisco) Martens. He was a farmer in Stark County, Illinois during the 1950's and worked as a maintenance man for the YWCA in Peoria, Illinois. Everett is survived by his wife, a son Everett Cook Jr.(Charlene),a daughter Thelma Lee Snedden (Donald) of Pekin, Illinois, two step-sons Antony Martens (Lorene)of Columbia, Kentucky, James Martens (Donna)of Hurst, Texas, a step-daughter Jessie Hood of Sacramento, California.
