(December 16, 1945) William J. Martens, 44 of 548 Meadows Ave. East Peoria (Illinois), died unexpectedly at 7:45 P.M. at the home of his mother, Mrs Ida Martens 320 Pecan St. He had been in failing health for about a month. The son of Herman and Ida (nee Jackson) Martens, he was born in Pekin (Illinois) April 16, 1901 and married Elsie Bisco in St Charles Missouri January 16, 1943. Mr. Martens had been employed as a truck driver for Chris Hoerr & Sons. Last working a month ago. He was a member of the South Side Mission. Surviving are his widow; his mother; two sons Antony Dwayne and James Leonard Martens; one daughter Jessie K. Martens; a brother Harm Martens, and one sister Francis Walker Both of Peoria (Illinois). Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Wednesday at the Wilton Mortuary. Internment will be in Fondulac Cemetery, East Peoria. Friends may call at the mortuary tomorrow afternoon and evening.
