Son of Thomas and Catherine (Shaffer) Hunter. Husband of Parmelia Harriet (Carbaugh/Karbough) Hunter b. abt 1829 TN– Thomas L. Hunter was (according to Goodspeed's 1888 history of Newton County) killed in his own house in 1862 by a Federal scout as he played with his twin children. His mother was there to witness the brutal murder. (Another account says: Killed in 1862 by a Federal Scout on the Pineville Road during a Civil War skirmish.
