Gravesite details
I took a photo of this tombstone in the 1970s. It did NOT have an urn on the top. It looks like someone found the urn and placed it on Thomas and Martha's tombstone, but I think it belongs on top of Benjamin and Elizabeth Loveless' tombstone.
Bio
Thomas Sparks was the son of James and Margaret (Ray) Sparks. Thomas married Martha Loveless on September 22, 1837 in Clinton Co., IN. Thomas and Martha had 9 children, James Allen Sparks, Elizabeth (Sparks) Crick, Mary Ann (Sparks) Hanes, Benjamin Sparks, Emmaline (Sparks) Moorhead, Margaret Minerva (Sparks) Ghere, Joseph Sparks, Franklin Sparks and John Henry Sparks. I first visited Thomas and Martha (Loveless) Sparks' grave in 1978. The urn on top of their tombstone today was NOT on top of their monument, but was on top of the monument for Martha's parents, Benjamin and Elizabeth Loveless. See the photo on Benjamin & Elizabeth Loveless. In 1978, Benjamin and Elizabeth Loveless' tombstone was definitely leaning and the urn most likely fell off and someone placed it on top of the wrong monument. Both tombstones have a flat top where both probably had an urn like this. (Linda Zapp)
