Joyce Amelia Dossett Ellison passed away at her home on Tuesday, July 7, 2021. She was born in Eight Mile, Alabama, on April 23, 1932, to William Louis Dossett and Rosalee Browning Dossett. She was a graduate of Fairhope High School in 1950. She was married to F. B. Ellison on November 12, 1960. Joyce was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She invested her life in others and blessed all she touched. She managed her home and farm with excellence. Her skills included cooking, sewing and keeping farm business accounts. She loved to find hidden treasures… these treasures were often found at yard sales and thrift stores. She was a devoted Christian who loved Jesus and it was evident by her servant heart for missions through WMU, Sunday School teacher and years serving as kitchen hospitality host. Momma loved to sing! She and her sister, Joanna would sing duets and she was a faithful choir member. When she escaped the kitchen, you could find momma in the nursery rocking babies and singing lullabies. Momma was not self-serving. She served others her entire life and taught us to do the same. She was recognized as Woman of the Year for the Chamber of Commerce and for the Baldwin County Cattlemen's Woman of the Year. She was the Manager, Secretary and Treasurer of the Baldwin County Fair for years. She was instrumental in the purchasing of the property where the Baldwin County Fair Coliseum is today. Because of her foresight in having the Baldwin County Fair classed as a non-profit organization, it was eligible for federal funding as a disaster shelter. Momma has cooked and delivered meals, cakes, pies and a variety of other homemade meals to those in the community in need. She was always ready to welcome any who entered her home at mealtime to her table. Many knew what time to show up! Mrs. Ellison is survived by her husband of 61 years, F. B. Ellison. She was preceded in death by her parents; also, by siblings, Bill, Jim, Maurice, Marguerite, Madolin, Clemie, Joanna, Patsy and Huey. She is survived by her children, Burie (Devanie) Ellison, Rosellen (Judd) Coggin and Dawn (Glenn) Hopper and her brother Ellis (Faye) Dossett; Grandchildren Tiffany (Joe) Driver, Brittney (Aaron) Comstock, Brady (Kendra) Ellison, Judd (Stephanie) Coggin, Kristin (Adam) Wasdin, Roselee Coggin, Louis (Kaitlyn) Coggin, Dylan (Christien) Hopper, Dustin (Casey) Hopper and Destry (Kelsey) Hopper; and Great-Grandchildren, Brooks, Trent, Teagan, Eli, Cade, Ava, Tucker, Emily, Parker Burie, MacKenzie, Morgan, Noah, Payton, Brice, Gaige, Sawyer, Ellison, Clarke, Chloe, Mason, Gavin and Margaret.
