Bio

His father was was killed in Connellsville, Pennsylvania by a train in 1903 and his mother died in 1901 leaving behind her husband and 4 children, one of which was only 6 weeks old. Due to the early untimely deaths of his parents, he and his siblings were raised by James and Margaret Cowan Donaldson, their father's sister and her husband. Siblings: James Benjamin Cowan (195062233), Frances Lucille Cowan Archer (103243194) (there was also a 6 week old baby when the mother died in 1901-name unknown at this time, but it could be Dorothy Donaldson Gilmore (176269452), although the birth certificate lists the Donaldson's as her parents. The age matches up on the census with what would be the 6 week old baby. Dorothy used the last name Donaldson up until she married; the other 3 siblings used Cowan, except for one census where Lucille was listed as a Donaldson at 11 years of age.
