Bio
Omar "Butch" Strickland, 85, joined our Heavenly Father on April 14, 2025. He was born on April 24, 1939 to James & Rita Mae Latham Strickland. He grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1957. Four years later he met and married Juanell Sons on June 14, 1961. They had three sons, David, Michael and Kenneth. Butch loved to take his boat and family to Possum Kingdom whenever he could. Butch was very knowledgeable about cars since he grew up in his grandfather's garage. He served in the Army from 1956-1962. Over the years he worked at Napco, Ameron and retired from Whaley Products. Butch loved his Harley or "tricycle" as he called it. He could turn many heads whenever they saw him driving down the highway. Omar was preceded in death by his wife Juanell Strickland, parents James & Rita Strickland, sister Adrene Spence and son David Strickland. He is survived by sons Michael and Kenneth Strickland, daughter in laws Stacey Strickland and Kelly Pruitt, grandchildren James Strickland and wife Marissa, Sarah Johnson and husband Jim, Darrell Stewart and wife Robin, Emily Villegas and husband Albert, Kathleen Stewart and wife Patricia, Ashley Warton and husband Brandon. Fifteen great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren. A service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Chapel at Hampton Vaughn Funeral Home.
