The son of William & Elizabeth (Brummett) Snider of Jackson, Brown Co IN, James married Elizabeth Brummett (most likely a cousin) on 27 Sep 1853 in Brown Co IN. They had three children beofre he died in the Civil War after serving as a Private in Company C, 22nd Indiana Infantry. Children: 1) Almira Snider, b. 1854 2) James Snider Jr, b. 1857 3) William Banner Snider (1859-1945); m. Isabelle "Belle" Smith.
