Son of Stephen Andrew Selsor and Birdetta "Birdie" Gillett. Obituary: Paul Arthur Selsor, son of Steven Andrew Selsor and Birdetta Gillett Selsor was born June 25, 1921 in Clarke County, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Homestead Assisted Living in Osceola at 92 years of age. Paul received his education in the rural schools of Clarke County attending Doyle Township #7. He was united in marriage to Helen Vaniece Chew on August 18, 1940 at Murray, Iowa. This special union has lasted nearly seventy-three years and was blessed with two children, Karen and Danny. Paul worked for John Deere in Ankeny, Iowa and was trained as a Machinist but in later years he became a distribution manager. After over thirty years of employment, with John Deere, Paul retired to the farm he truly loved. Paul was a member of U.A.W. Local #450. He enjoyed restoring Farmall and Ford tractors and as well as farming and raising cattle. He also loved golfing and fishing. He and Helen were very social and enjoyed people. They went to many dances together and even won many dance contests. They also spent a great deal of time together traveling to many cities across the country. Paul also had a great love of cards and played all sorts of games but was partial to cribbage). Those relatives who preceded Paul in death were his parents; brother, Burton Selsor, brother, Elmer Selsor, brother, Edward Selsor, sister, Opal Arlene Kirkwood, sister, Mabel Swaim, sister, Minnie Siefkas, sister, Viola Davis, sister, Pauline Baker, sister, Bessie Siefkas, grandson, Danny Paul Selsor II. Paul leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Helen Selsor of Osceola, IA, daughter, Karen (Allen) Perry of Mandeville, LA, son, Danny (Cathy) Selsor of Des Moines, IA, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Alma Selsor of Thayer, IA as well as many nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
