Bio
Birdie Fletcher, 83, died Tuesday at Hamilton Hospital in Olney, Texas. Services will be held at 2pm Thursday at First Baptist Church of Olney with the Rev. Jerry Becknal, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home. Birdie was born April 16, 1905, in what is now Temple, Oklahoma to Jefferson and Lula Sutherland. She married Dewey Welk Fletcher on September 17, 1921 in Walters, Oklahoma. He died in 1961. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a resident of Olney for about 60 years. Survivors include three sons; Clarence Fletcher of Abilene, Texas, Orville Fletcher of Mineral Wells, Texas, James Fletcher of Hurst, Texas; two brothers, Roy Sutherland of Los Lunas, New Mexico and J.M. Sutherland of Odessa, Texas; three sisters, Ella Mae Ward of Ropesville, Texas, Helen Williams and Ruby Clift both of Lubbock, Texas; eight grand-children; and ten great-grand-children.
