Wanda "Joann" Joan (Goodwin) Story, age 83, of Humble, Texas passed away on Friday, June 26, 2020. Wanda was born on April 25, 1937 in Wells, Texas to parents, Geneva Cortez (Liles) Goodwin and Chester Wright Goodwin. Wanda was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Washington Story; daughter, Pamela Danice Purvis; sisters, Brenda Goodwin Hillsmier, Ruby Ann Lehman, Carolyn Goodwin Warren; brother, Willard Maddux, Jimmy Durham; parents, Geneva Cortez (Liles) Goodwin and Chester Wright Goodwin; grandchildren, Larry Joe Drury, Jr., Christopher Cortez Drury, and Samantha O'Gorman. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Claudia Joan Drury, Deborah Maylene Langley, Sharon Kay Gill, Cynthia Gaylene Starnes; sons, Harold L. Bass, Jr., James Andrew Bass, Wendell Eugene Bass, John Curtis Story, Richard Dewayne Story; grandchildren, Tracy, James, Michael, Tena, Helana, Robert, Eric, Christina, Nicholas, Suzanne, Jamie, Beau, Cameron, Rachal, Kaylyn, Sharon Marie, John Jr., Julia, Emily, Ashleigh; multiple great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Geraldine Lemons, Sherry Lynn Putnam, Barbara Goodwin; brothers, Carl Ray Knight and Chester Wright Goodwin, Jr., Roy Goodwin; brother-in-law, Doyle Lemons; son-in-law, Richard Gill; daughters-in-law, Terry Bass, Sandra Bass and Casey Story, and multiple nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends for a visitation on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brookside Funeral Home, 13747 Eastex Freeway, Houston, TX 77039. A funeral service for Wanda will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 10:30 AM in the Grand Chapel at Brookside with interment to follow at Brookside Memorial Park.
