Banner Press (David City, Nebr.), July 17, 1997, p. 9B, col. 2 Mary M. Stara Mary M. Stara, 95, of David City died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at St. Joseph’s Villa in David City. Mrs. Stara was born July 2, 1902, at Bruno to Jacob and Anna (Johnson) Pecha. She married James J. Stara of Bruno on April 10, 1923, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bruno. They lived on a farm and she was a homemaker. She was a member of the Catholic Church and the PCCW. Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Albin and Norma of David City, Kenneth and Betty of Rising City, Eugene and Shirley of Fremont, Ernest and Jane of Bruno, and Donald and Marlene of Seward; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Adeline Jakub, and Delores and Eugene Coufal, all of David City, Celestine and Eugene Siroky of Linwood, and Martha and Jerry Glynn of Pacifica, Calif.; 33 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Theodore Pecha; one daughter, Marcella; one grandson, Larry Stara; and one son-in-law, Henry Jakub. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 15, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in David City with Monsignor Adrian Herbek officiating. Acolyte and lector was Jim Stara. Burial was at St. Anthony’s Cemetery of Bruno. Pallbearers were Eldon Jakub, Doug Stara, Jim Coufal, Gary Stara, Kurt Glynn and Keith Stara. Those attending from out-of-state came from Texas, California, Indiana, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Missouri. Memorials may be given to family wishes. Arrangements by Knott Funeral Home of David City.
