(10/08/2025) THE PARIS NEWS, Sun., Jan. 29, 1995, p. 10A: "Haden (Jack) Proffer, 74, of Paris died Friday, Jan. 27, 1995, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Cecil Allen officiating. Burial will be in Mount Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at the funeral home. Mr. Proffer was born July 9, 1920, in Caddo, OK, a son of Ernest Preston and Nellie Pauline Staggs Proffer. He first married Dorothy Billingsley, who died Jan. 13, 1987. He married Miriam Hamilton Feb. 13, 1988. A veteran of the U.S. Army Corps, he served in World War II. He retired from Hollywood Vassarette. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Danny Proffer and Joe Proffer, both of Paris; one daughter, Susan Proffer Blouin of Paris; his father of Paris; one sister, Joan Proffer Bonner of Oak View, CA; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren." On the same stone with Dorothy A. Proffer. Also has a military marker inscribed, "Cpl US Army Air Corps - World War II.
