Solomon Whittington was the son of Richard Whittington (b. ca. 1745/50 Edgecombe County, NC, d. December 18, 1820 Johnston County, NC) and wife Olive Stephenson (ca. 1750/55 Southampton County, VA, d. October 12/29, 1814 Johnston County, NC) of Johnston County, North Carolina.
