Mary Ann Wasinger-Herl, 73, Hays, died April 14, 2001, at Hays Medical Center. She was born Jan 4, 1928, in Hays to Mathias "Matt" and Clara (Wolf) Zimmerman. She married Julius Wasinger on Feb 10, 1947, in Hays. He died Aug 8, 1971. She married Virgil Herl on Aug 18, 1973, in Brighton, CO. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Hays. Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Linda Baker, Wichita; her mother, Hays; five brothers, Wayne Zimmerman, Gordon Zimmerman and Dennis Zimmerman, all of Hays, Sherman Zimmerman, Shawnee and Steve Zimmerman, Topeka; three sisters, Elaine Schmidt, Hays, Marjorie Augustine, Ellis, and Betty Leiker, Munjor; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father. Services were April 17 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fathers Bill Surmeier and Don Zimmerman officiating; burial in St Joseph Cemetery, Hays. Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Council of Ellis County.
