Robert “Bob” Kitten, 58, of Slaton, passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2021.Graveside services were Saturday (Feb. 20) at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Arrangements were under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service of Slaton. Bob was born April 13, 1962 in Slaton to Norbert Vincent and Cora Lee Rose Kitten. He graduated from Lubbock-Cooper High School in 1980. His life’s work included farming, remodeling houses and working for Diesel Injection before working for South Plains Compost. He married Tanya Driver on Feb. 27, 1999 at Tanya’s restaurant, Tanya’s Iron Skillet. Bob was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Slaton and was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus Council #2571. His passions were barbecuing and taking care of people, a man of service. He was one of nine people who started the Harvest Community Organization in Slaton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob is survived by his wife, Tanya; his stepson, Shannon and his wife, Heather of Lubbock; his sisters, Judy Walkup and her husband, Harold of Beaverton, Ore., Katherine Nelzen and her husband, Ron of Oregon City, Ore., Veronica Robinson and her husband, Lynn of Amarillo, Carrie Sarchet and her husband, Kerry of Anton; his brothers, Mike Kitten and his wife, Phillis of Salt Lake City, Utah, Gordon Kitten and his wife, Adria of Lubbock, Bill Kitten of Slaton, Stanley Kitten and his wife, Susan of Slaton, and Donald Kitten and his wife, Gina of Lubbock; and his grandson, Jasper Ross. In lieu of flowers or food, the family suggests memorials be made to HCO Bob Kitten Memorial Building Fund, c/o Happy State Bank, 103 Texas Ave., Slaton, TX 79364
