Bio
Elsie was the eldest child of John Lee Claybrook and Opal Omega Williams. Omega was descended from the family of Roger Williams, founder of Rhode Island. Her Baptist ancestors followed Daniel Boone to Kentucky, and fought in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Elsie and my grandfather were the eldest grandchildren of Wyatt Harris Williams Sr. and Sarah F. Turner. Wyatt was a notable cattle rancher in Gainesville TX and the Indian Territory, now Oklahoma. Elsie married John Lee Claybrook, son of James Thomas Claybrook and Martha Lauretta Hamby. I only corresponded with Elsie one time, but her kind letter was what I needed to complete a lot of genealogy. I have already been able to connect with Williams cousins, and I hope she would be pleased.
