Bio

Edward Kloke was born April 28, 1926 in Pierce, NE to Carl and Sadie (Jones) Kloke. He attended schools in Madison. In 1944, Ed joined the US Army where he was a member of the 42nd Rainbow Division. On January 8, 1948 he was united in marriage to Wilma “Bud” Smutny in Madison. Ed farmed for few years and worked for the City of Columbus. He also had various handyman jobs and loved to be called “Mr. Handy”. Ed lived in North Platte until moving into the Veterans home in Kearney. Ed loved baseball. He played semi-pro ball for Madison and continued to enjoy baseball from spring training through the World Series every year. Ed also loved woodworking. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Eagles Club, and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Platte. One of Ed’s fondest memories was going on the WWII Heartland Honor Flight to Washington DC. Ed is survived by: Wife: Joan Kloke of Loveland, CO Son: Bob (Peggy) Kloke of Columbus -Paula (Tracy) Sharman and Eric (Andrea) Kloke Daughter: Judi (Larry) Griffiths of Columbus -Kaylee (Tyler) Strong, Tayler (fiance’ Aaron Hellbusch) Griffiths, and Tina (Shawn) Kreikemeier Lee’s Children: -Kristina (Larry) Ronnebaum, Brian (Jennifer) Kloke, and David (Audrey) Kloke Several Great Grandchildren Several Step-children and Grandchildren Brother Gene Kloke of Denver, CO Brother Joe Kloke of Fremont He is preceded in death by: Wife Wilma “Bud” Kloke Parents Carl and Sadie Kloke Son Lee Kloke Grandson Joshua Griffiths Grandson Jade Walker 2 Sisters Ceil and Sally Interment will be in Saints Patrick/Joseph Cemetery in Platte Center with Military Honors by Hartman Post # 84 - American Legion Honor Guard.
