Hannah was born in District 96, South Carolina to John and Mary Adair Prather. [In 1785 District 96 became Laurens District] The Prather family had been in this area of South Carolina since Hannah's grandparents came there about 1768. Hannah's paternal grandfather was Bazel Prather who was a Revolutionary War soldier. Hannah Prather married Joseph Dollar before May 1810 in Laurens District, South Carolina. Joseph purchased 50 acres of land on the Enoree River bounded by the land of George Dillard and John Mahan. from Joseph Greer in 1810. Joseph is the son of William and Ruth Beasley Dollar. In William Dollar’s Revolutionary War pension file is a letter signed by Joseph and Hannah. This letter was written to Hannah’s mother-in-law Ruth Dollar in 1814 and includes the names and dates of birth for their three oldest living children: Ruth, born 22 January 1811; Unice, born 3 Aug 1812; and John William, born 4 Nov 1813. Other children born to this couple while living in Laurens County, SC include Salathiel (1815), Priscilla (1816), Harper (1817), Joseph (1821), Elizabeth (1823), Brice (1824), Archibald (1826), and Mary (1828). The family remained in Laurens District until about 1831 when they relocated to Meriwether County, Georgia. Joseph purchased land there in 1832 ~ 202 acres close to the western border with Troup County. Another son, Daniel, was born after this move to Georgia. Joseph unexpectedly died 29 June 1833 in Meriwether County and Hannah was left to care for her children as a widow. In the1850 Meriwether County census with Hannah Dollar are sons Archibald and Daniel plus her widowed daughter Unicia Bennett and her three children. Hannah died 7 Oct 1853 and the final settlement of her estate is dated 1 July 1856, Meriwether County Probate Return Book E, page 162. Her place of interment is not known.
