Bio

Lawrence Tom Slater, 66, of 2809 Hoyte Dr. died Saturday morning at Veterans Administration Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Southside Chapel of Rose-Neath Funeral Home. The Rev. Wayne Reeves, pastor of Bistineau Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park West. Mr. Slater was a native of Cisco, Texas, and lived in Shreveport for six years. Prior to that the retired mechanical engineer had lived in South Korea for 15 years. Survivors include his wife, Dorris Sue Slater of Shreveport; one son, Billy Tom Slater of Tupelo, Miss.; two daughters, Frances Slater and Sandra Slater, both of Shreveport; one sister, Johnnie Marie Austin of Houston; one brother, Dan Slater of Bastrop, Texas, and one grandchild.
