James “Jim” Macon Sellers, 82, formerly of Point Enterprise, died on January 12, 2021, at The Rayburn Health and Rehabilitation Center in Jasper, Texas. Burial is in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Jim was born on Mach 5, 1938, in Limestone County, Texas, to the late David Alma "Alvie" and Eliza Mary "May" Thornton Sellers. Jim attended the old Point Enterprise School and Mexia High School. He worked and lived in Dallas and New Orleans, LA, until he went to work overseas. It was in Scotland that he met and married Betty in 1975. They purchased a home there and lived in Falkirk, Scotland until they moved to Jasper in 1979, where he owned and operated the Town and Country Exxon Service Center until his retirement. Jim was a long-time and very active member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jasper, where he happily and faithfully served in several capacities for the past 25 years. Although he was severely incapacitated in his mobility, he refused to acquire a Handicap License. He parked cars at the church for people who had difficulty walking. Jim was well known for his daily walks in the beautiful Sandy Creek Park with his faithful dog, Chloe, who preceded him in death by 6 months. Everyone who Jim met, either walking in the park, at church, or on the street, immediately became his good friend. There have been over 200 Facebook comments on his passing. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty Sellers, of Jasper; daughters, Wendy Sellers, of Jasper, and Shannon Tracy, of Houston; son, Jeff Munn, of the Houston area; grandsons: Blake Sellers, Michael Munn and his wife, Rachel, Wesley Munn and his wife, Amy, Ryan Tracy, and Sean Tracy; granddaughter, Jamie Marie Applebe; great-grandchildren: Maverick and Eliza Sawyer, James Scott Downs, Kyle and Gage Munn, and Kyle and Everleigh Tracy; brother, David Sellers, of Point Enterprise; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. B1 Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and May Sellers; and both sisters, Judy and Anna. ∼ March 05, 1938 - January 12, 2021 A Celebration of James "Jim" Sellers' Life, age 82 of Jasper, Texas, will be 2:00pm, Friday, January 15, 2021 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Jasper, Texas. Jim died Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Rayburn Health and Rehabilitation in Jasper, Texas. Jim was a native of Point Enterprise, Texas, former resident of New Orleans, Louisiana and a resident of Jasper since 1979. He loved his family and his friends in Jasper. He was the owner and operator of Town & Country Exxon in Jasper, Texas. Jim was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Jasper, where he will be fondly remembered. Jim is survived by his wife of 45 years, the love of his life, Betty Sellers of Jasper, Texas, his beloved daughter, Wendy Sellers of Jasper, Texas, his brother, David Sellers of Mexia, Texas, his grandson, Blake Andrew Sellers of Salt Lake City, Utah, whom he adored. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Billy Williford of Jasper, Texas, his niece, Michelle Elder and husband Gene of Magnolia Springs, Texas, two great nephews, Brady Elder of Magnolia Springs, Texas and Hunter Elder of San Marcos, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Eliza Sellers and his two sisters, Judy and Ann. In honor of his best furry friend, Chloe, memorials may be made to the Jasper Animal Shelter, 506 CR 296, Jasper, Texas 75951. Jim could be seen at the park daily taking Chloe on a walk or was it Chole really walking him? Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper, Texas.
