Funeral services for Rev. Gervis H. Martin, 83, of Anacoco, Louisiana were held Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at Beech Grove Congregational Methodist Church in Anacoco, Rev. Brent Noble and Rev. Bill Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Beech Grove Cemetery, Gervis, the son of Marion Clinton Martin, Sr., and Sudie Cansadie Bond Martin was born July 27, 1929, in Pitkin. He passed away Tuesday, August 28th, at his residence in Anacoco. Rev. Martin was a life time resident of Vernon Parish. He was a Baptist Minister having pastored in Vernon Parish, Sabine Parish and Lincoln Parish. He was a retired railroad agent and worked for Civil Service at Fort Polk. He loved his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Sarah Martin and two sons, David Martin and Wallace R. Martin. He is survived by his wife of Anacoco; son and daughter-in-law of Anacoco,; three daughters and sons-in-law; step-children; two sons and one daughter-in-law; one daughter and son-in-law of Cleveland, Texas; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Services were under the direction of Labby Memorial Funeral Home of Leesville.
