Emil Daniel Hosek, age 88, went home to the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 surrounded by his family. Daniel was born July 21, 1932 to Emil and Lillie Wagner Hosek in Wilson County. Daniel attended the Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Poth at the age of 5 until the school burned in the Fall of 1942, then elementary school in the Dewees community. He graduated from Poth High School at the age of 16 and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Daniel married the love of his life, Frances (Jane) Wiatrek, on October 16, 1956. He and his wife, Jane, were married for 64 years. He worked for the Texas Highway Department for 50 years. He was a lifetime member of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Poth where he was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers. He also served as a member of the Knights of the Columbus, KJT and was a fireman for the Poth Volunteer Fire Department. He provided for his family by hunting, fishing and gardening. He enjoyed polka music, beekeeping, and getaways to the casino. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lillie Hosek. Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Jane, 6 children, 9 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. Mark Hosek and wife Rose; Imogene Pawelek and husband Buzz Cooke; Jennifer Pruski and husband Kenneth; Jeffrey Hosek and wife Jane; Mary Kellner and partner Tina DeFiore; and Linnet Baskett; grandchildren, Marsha Hosek, Steven Hosek (Shannon), Rebekah Kung (Bryan), Dawn Pawelek-Lovelace (Matthew), Brooke Pawelek, Skylar Pawelek-Jacquinot (Joe), Zachary Pruski (Kayla), Lindsey Pruski, and Dylan Kellner; great grandchildren, Adrian, Daniel and Mark Duron; Mason Real; Rajun and Huntley Pawelek-Jacquinot; Wyatt Cruger; and Jack Emil Pruski. Daniel is also survived by his sisters, Gertrude Sells (Gene) and Mildred Wiatrek (Wilfred); brother, Timothy Hosek (Lynn) and numerous nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends. He has one surviving aunt, Georgia Kotzur Laskowski. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Poth, Texas starting at 6:00 PM followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, with Father Damian Jaje. Interment will follow at Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth.
