Bio

Bonnie Louise (Tompkins) Harris, 83, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2019 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born June 12, 1936 in Pauls Valley, OK to Clara (Barton) and Lesslie Tompkins. Bonnie was raised in PaulsValley, OK. Around the age of seven she contracted polio and had to spend time in the hospital inside an iron lung. Bonnie graduated from Pauls Valley high School in 1954. Bonnie married Jim Harris of Council Hill, OK in 1959. Bonnie and Jim lived in Woodward, OK until 1964 when they moved their family to Pampa, TX. In 1971, Bonnie packed up her home and family to move halfway around the world to Tripoli, Libya 1971-1976, Singapore 1976-1977. In 1977, the family returned to the U.S. and settled in Woodward, OK. Bonnie worked for many years as a cashier at Jiffy Trip convenience store. In 1983, Bonnie and Jim moved to Elk City, OK for Jim’s job. In 1986, they moved to Perry, OK and bought a convenience store. After retiring in 2003, they moved to Longtown, OK. In 2005, they moved to Muskogee, OK. Bonnie was a member of First Baptist Church of Muskogee and loved her church family. After Jim passed in 2017, Bonnie’s church family and her friend and neighbor Miss Helen Cullom were a great comfort to her. Bonnie’s family is grateful for the support and care these friends show her. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Les and Clara Tompkins; husband, Jim Harris; granddaughter, Amanda Harris; great-granddaughters, Grace Rosson and Makena Harris; nephew, Todd Luttrell; nieces, Brenda Luttrell and Kimberly Blair. She is survived by sons, Kent of Ada, OK and Rusty and wife Teresa of Woodward, OK; daughter, Sharon Brown and husband Mitch of Oklahoma City, OK; sisters, Jan Blair and husband Dave of Noble, OK, and Kay Nelson of Wynnewood, OK; grandchildren, Jennifer Harris, Matthew Harris, Jonathon Harris, Dusti Riley, Katelynn Sorenson, T.J. Harris, Holly Smith, Robby Chenowith, Ryan Harris, Jessica Rosson, Zachary Rosson, Jordan Rosson, Chandler Rosson, Presley Brown, and Teague Brown; 16 great-grandchildren and nephews, Tracy Blair, Mike Blair, Jeff Blair and Robert Blair. Memorial services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 in Bradley Belltower Chapel at Bradley Funeral & Cremation Service. The Bradley Funeral home is no longer in operation.
