''''''''''''''''' The Omaha Star , September 20, 1963, p. 5, col. 5 Leo Franklin Spears, age 61 years, 2423 Wirt Street, passed away Wednesday morning, September 4th, at a local hospital. Mr. Spears was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and had been a resident of Omaha 53 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy I. Spears; son, Roy L. Spears, Omaha; five daughters, Mrs. Marian Tilman, Chicago, Illinois, Mrs. Rebecca Streeter, Mrs.June Hamler, Omaha, Mrs. Eleanor Thompson, Minot, North Dakota, Miss Cecilia Ann Spears, Omaha; 13 grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Pauline Smith, Los Angeles, California, Mrs. Arlene Austin, Mrs. Ira Mae Buckner, Omaha. Funeral services were held two o'clock Monday afternoon, September 9th, from the Clair Methodist Church, with the Rev. E. T. Streeter officiating. Pallbearers were Messrs Donald P. Hannon, J. Edward, Jr., George Lampin, Thomas Kedd, Thomas Upchee, W. A. Gray, C. Leffall, Leonard Harold. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery with arrangements by the Thomas Funeral Home.
