Married John Clyde Powers Jun 9, 1934. ∼ Transcription of Obituary from The Bryan-College Station Eagle, March 2001 Lizzie 'Ruth' Powers July 28, 1915--Marchj 28, 2001 Services for Lizzie "Ruth" Powers, 85, of Bryan are set for 10 a.m. Monday at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan. The Rev. Dale Suel of Steep Hollow Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Steep Hollow Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 a.m. to the time of the services Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Powers died Wednesday at her home. She was born in Brazos County and was a lifelong resident of Bryan. She was a member of Steep Hollow Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Powers. Survivors include three sons, Elton Powers and Donnie Powers, both of Bryan, and Nathan Powers of Tomball; a brother and sister-in-law, John and Myrtie Smith of Bryan; three sisters, Ann Way, and Marie Reed, both of Bryan, and Avis Arrington of Houston; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to Steep Hollow Baptist Church.
