Theodore Fritz Banik was baptized March 21, 1920, by Pastor John Link at St. Paul's Evangelical & Reformed Church in Gerald, Texas. His baptismal sponsors were Fritz Banik and Elfriede Blankenstein. Ted Banik was confirmed in June 1934, by Pastor Alexander Greeb at St. Paul's Evangelical & Reformed Church (now St. Paul's United Church of Christ) in Gerald, Texas. Ted Banik married Angelina Anita Fajkus at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flatonia, Texas, on Nov. 4, 1941. ************************************************************************* OBITUARY FROM THE LIBERTY VINDICATOR THEODORE FRITZ BANIK CROSBY--Services for Theodore Fritz Banik, 68, were held Wednesday, Sept. 16, 1987, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Joseph Gietl officiating. A rosary was recited Tuesday, Sept. 15 at the Sterling Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Magnolia Park Cemetery under direction of Sterling Funeral Home of Dayton. Mr. Banik died Monday, Sept. 14, at his home. He was born in West, Texas, and had been a resident of Crosby 43 years. He was a retired process operator for Exxon Co. USA and a farmer. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 3229, the American Legion, No. 658, and had served in the U. S. Army during W.W. II. Survivors include his wife, Angeline Banik of Crosby; four sons, Ted Banik, Jr., of Humble, Melvin Banik of Dayton, Marvin Banik and Vance Banik, both of Crosby; a sister, Dora Matocha of Highlands; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Melvin Banik, Michael Banik, Joe Smesny, Marshall Rolke, Jerome Kristek, Danny Fajkus, Cecil Singleton, James Herbert Fajkus, Wesley Doscocil and Johnny Zalesak. **************************************************************************** Ted Banik was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Alma Blankenstein Banik; by his infant brother, Henry Banik, and his infant sister, Leona Banik, who it is said, died in Ted's arms.
