Louis "Louie" Mastera, 77, of rural Ceresco died Oct. 17, 2003, in his home. Louis was born Aug. 23, 1926, at the family farm in rural Ceresco. He attended elementary school at District 40 in rural Ceresco. He married Alice A. Gall on Sept. 28, 1968, at St. Marys Catholic Church in Lincoln. He was a life-long Ceresco area resident, and he worked as a farmer with grain and livestock operation. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Davey. Survivors include: his wife; a son, Dan (and wife, Nancy) Mastera of Ceresco; a daughter, Ann (Mrs. Charlie) Tvrdy of Ceresco; four brothers, Frank Jr. (and wife, Mildred) Mastera, Alfons (and wife, Bea) Mastera, George Mastera, all of David City, and Ed (and wife, Darlene) Mastera of Schuyler; three sisters, Helen Nelson of Tulsa, Okla., Frances Styskal of Wahoo, and Mary (Mrs. Ray) Richardson of Lincoln; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister. The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Marys Catholic Church in Davey with the Rev. Kenneth Hoesing officiating. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and will continue Monday one hour before Mass at the church. Burial will be in St. Mary and St. Patrick cemetery in Davey. Memorials are in care of the family. Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of arrangements.
