Bio
Bobby Wayne Wood, 79, of Livingston, Texas, passed away December 4, 2020, in Bullard, Texas. Bob was born June 21, 1941, in Henderson, Texas to parents, James Forrest Wood and Dolly Opal (Jones) Wood. During his life, Bob excelled in football in London High School, receiving All District and All State Honors. Upon graduating in 1959, he received a scholarship to Texas A&M; but wanting to stay close to Sandra - the love of his life - he opted to enroll in Kilgore Junior College where he played for 2 years. During his second year a broken leg ended his football career. Working in the oil industry for Shell, he came to Livingston to work and raise his family. He took an active part in supporting his 3 sons and their many school and summer activities. He coached his boys along with dozens of other boys in various leagues and age groups in baseball. Bob also gave to the community volunteering to work first as a reserve officer for the Livingston Police Department. Later he moved over to serve as a reserve deputy for the Polk County Sheriff's Department. He was appointed Captain of the Reserves and upon retirement, he was honored as Polk County Sheriff's Department Reserve Captain Emeritus which honored his service and dedication to his community. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sandra Wood; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his son, Kevin Wood and wife, Deidra of Bullard; son, Steven Wood and wife, Sharon of Yoakum; son, David Wood and wife, Shannon of Huntsville; grandchildren, Markus Mosley and wife, Laura, Wesley Wood and wife, Megan, Riley Wood, Jeff Wood and wife, Kandi, Jeremy Wood and girlfriend, Megan, Merci Wood, Grayson Wood and wife, Elizabeth, Kyle Higgins, and Hailey Baker; and sister, Cathy Faulkner and husband, Warren; along with numerous great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers: Markus Mosley, Wesley Wood, Riley Wood, Jeff Wood, Jeremy Wood, Merci Wood, Grayson Wood Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. in the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel in Livingston, Texas. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday in the Rusk County Memorial Garden Cemetery in Henderson, Texas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, in the Cochran Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Cochran Funeral Home www.cochranfh.com
