Bio

Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Morvant will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin, with Reverends Ricky Kennon and Lupe Delarosa officiating. Interment will follow in Simmons Cemetery, Mittie, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin. Mrs. Morvant, 71, of Dry Creek, entered eternal rest on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Ochsner Medical Center, New Orleans, LA. She was a loving mother and grandmother and was a strong, extraordinary woman. She loved her farm, chickens and cows, but more than anything, she loved her grandbabies. She loved cooking and insisted on everyone eating. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Zedekiah and Ruth Davis; her husband, Joseph Alton Morvant, Sr.; one son, Jesse Morvant; one grandson, Brandon Morvant and two great grandchildren, Marlee and Realyn. Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include three sons, Joseph "Jim" Morvant, and his wife, Toni, of Dry Creek, Joseph Alton Morvant, Jr., and his companion, Sandy, of Dry Creek and Jarrod Morvant, and his companion, Nicole, of Hackberry; four daughters, Angela Battise, and her husband Tony, of Pitkin, Lora Ware, and her husband, Jimmy, of Dry Creek, Marcie Johnson, and her husband, Brandon, of Hineston and Alana Nalley, and her husband, Kelly, of DeRidder; one brother, Gary Davis, of Cole Central; one sister, Marolyn Clements, of Cole Central; thirty grandchildren; thirty-eight great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. A time of visitation will be held at Rush Funeral Home, Oberlin, on Tuesday, November 17, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
