Bio
Darwin L. Volcik, 56, of Granger died Sunday, June 20, 2004 at the Temple VA Hospital. Celebration of life services will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Brethren Cemetery in Granger. Darwin is preceded in death by his parents, John and Vlasta Volcik and his sister, Georgie Jean. Darwin was born on August 6, 1947 to John and Vlasta (Shirocky) Volcik in Granger, Texas. He was a member of the Brethren Church and the American Legion. He proudly served in the United States Navy, enlisting with a group of 13 of his buddies after high school graduation. He loved gardening, playing the accordion, and was an avid sports fan. Darwin took faithful care of his dear mother in the years before her death. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Memorials may be made to the Brethren Cemetery Fund in Granger.
