Bio

Edwin John "Buck" Zrubek, 79, of Granger, died Monday, July 2, 2001 in the VA Hospital in Temple after a lengthy illness. Rosary will be recited Thursday, July 5th at 7 P.M. at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Mass will be Friday, 11 A.M. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor with Father Tom Chamberlain, officiating. Burial to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Taylor. Edwin John Zrubek was born in Circleville, March 25, 1922 to Frank J. Zrubek, Sr. and Annie (Zezulka) Zrubek. Edwin attended school in Circleville. He entered the U.S. Army in December 1942 and served until his discharge in 1946. Edwin attained the rank of Sergeant. He returned to the Circleville area and farmed until health problems forced him into retirement in December 1993. Edwin was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, lifetime member of the VFW Post of Granger and the American Legion. Edwin was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorothy Nardini. Survivors include three brothers, Daniel Zrubek and wife, Jackie of Waco, Frank J. Zrubek, Jr. of Temple and Theodore "Ted" Zrubek and wife, Shirley of Lake Hills; three sisters, Elsie Zezulka of Denver, CO, Mary Ann Wallis and husband, A.J. of Austin and Evelyn Albritton of Killeen; eight nieces and four nephews. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Cemetery Fund, 408 Washburn, Taylor, TX 76574.
