Bio

Norma J. Kovar, 70 of Granger went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at the Granger Villa Nursing Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 7:00 PM, Friday, October 14, 2005 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor, Texas. The Celebration of Life Mass will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 15, 2005 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger with Rev. Joseph Nisari officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Norma was the daughter of Paul Louis and Fredrickie Emilia (Wagner) Waxler. She was born January 1, 1935 in Hays County in Wimberley, Texas. She was working for a loan company in Austin when she met and married Herbert E. Kovar on July 14, 1962 at SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, Texas. Later, she went to work for Rice Food Markets in Houston, Texas in the credit department as a secretary and eventually as credit manager. After retiring and moving to Granger in 2000, she worked for the Granger Post Office and later for Red and White Grocery Store in Granger and Bartlett, TX. Preceding her in death were her father, Paul Louis Waxler; her mother, Fredrickie Emilia Waxler; her brother, Henry Lee Waxler; her sister, Emmie Hoes and husband Buck Hoes; and brother-in-law, Ted L. Kovar. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Herbert E. Kovar of Granger; son John L. Kovar and wife Susan of Virginia Beach, VA.; her daughter Kathy Kay Kovar and husband Ricky Kovar of Manassas, VA.; five granddaughters Jacquelyn Kovar, Vannessa Kovar, Sarah Traywick, Rachel Traywick, and Tiffany Kovar. She also has one great grandson Cameron Traywick. Also surviving her a sister-in-law, Mary Anita Waxler of Austin and brother-in-law, Donald Kovar of Granger, and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Terry Pekar, James Pekar, Will Hoes, H.L. Waxler, Rick Kerr, and Johnnie Supak. Memorials can be made to SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic School and to the American Cancer Society.
