Bonnie LaRue Wommack was born in Delta County, Texas on January 20, 1930. She graduated from Naples High School in 1947. Bonnie attended East Texas State University where she earned her BS and 2 master degrees. Bonnie passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in Naples, Texas. Bonnie married Q.B. Wommack on September 8, 1950 and had one son, Steven Nance Wommack. Steve married Elizabeth Lakey and had two daughters, Kaitlyn and Mikayla Wommack. After Elizabeth’s death, Bonnie helped raise her granddaughters. Bonnie came from a teaching family, with four out of the five siblings in the profession. She taught at Redwater, Marietta, and Pewitt. She loved teaching and strived to provide a love of learning in her students. Bonnie retired from teaching in 1991. Bonnie loved to travel, going places like Ireland and Quebec. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved doing genealogy and studying her family tree. Bonnie was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Texas Retired Teachers. She helped to create and maintain the Naples Room at the Pewitt Alumni building when she was a member of the Pewitt Alumni Association. Preceding her in death are her parents, Freda and Louis Nance; her husband, Q.B. Wommack; son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Beth Wommack; sister, Louise Coker; and brother, Don Nance. She is survived by two granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Mikayla Wommack; two sisters, Betty Lou Burgess of Graham, Texas and Rosemary Jackson of Winnsboro, Texas; and a host of family and friends. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Naples Cemetery in Naples with Bro. Tim Anderson officiating.
