Bio

Marie "Mary" Friesen age 88 of Aurora, NE formerly a longtime resident of Henderson died Saturday May 5, 2007 at Aurora. She was born March 7, 1919 in rural Henderson to John P and Elizabeth (Regier) Goertzen. She attended District School 73 West and finished 90 East through the 8th grade. She also attended a year of German Bible School in Henderson as well. Mary was a longtime member of the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson, the Henderson Garden Club, enjoyed making crafts, loved to bake, knit, crochet and quilting. She was a 50-year member of the Hampton Extension Club. On October 19, 1939 she was married to Frank O. Friesen at Henderson. She is survived by three sons, Delmer and his wife Donita Friesen, Arlo and his wife Marlyn Friesen and Rendell and his wife Verda Friesen all of Aurora. One daughter Rogena and her husband Gerald Jantzen of Beatrice, NE; 13 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. Also surviving is a sister Goldie Friesen of Aurora, two brothers in law: John Martens and Harland Epp both of Henderson, two sisters in law: Laura and her husband Don Boehr and Leona Epp all of Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, four brothers, Abe, Pete, Albert and Harry, two sisters infant Katie and Gertrude Martens. Funeral services were held May 10, 2007 at the Bethesda Mennonite Church in Henderson. Burial was in the Bethesda Cemetery with memorials being directed to the family for later designation.
