Albina Martinka, 88, of Taylor passed away on Wednesday, August 1, 2001 at the SPJST Rest Home. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM, Thursday, August 2, 2001 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM, Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor with Msgr. Lonnie Urban officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Granger. Albina Angeline Martinka was born on December 7, 1912 to Peter and Mary (Valka) Nemec in Granger, TX. She was baptized and confirmed at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger and attended catholic and public schools in Granger. In 1932, she married Joe P. Martinka in Granger and to this union five children were born. In 1954, her husband passed away and she later moved to Taylor where she lived until the time of her death. She worked at Johns Community Hospital for several years and she then worked for many years at the SPJST Rest Home where she resided for the last several years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Taylor, St. Ann's Altar Society and the local K.J.Z.T. Society. Albina was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe P. Martinka, son, Cornell Martinka, one brother and four sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Grace Cole and husband, David of Temple and Bernice Schwertner and husband, Anton of Georgetown; two sons, Dan Martinka and wife, Mary and Ben Martinka and wife, Vicki, all of Pflugerville; one sister, Bernice Supak of Granger; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandchildren, Jason Cole, Nathan Martinka, Dana Herzog, Sandra Peoples, Kelly Francis, Chad Martinka, Colby Martinka, and Justin Martinka. Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Martinka Hodges and Eugene Ermis. A permanent memorial has been opened at www.AmericanMemorials.com
