J. L. Shaw February 16, 1932 - September 13, 2020 McWhorter Funeral Home Funeral services for J. L. Shaw, 88, of Gilmer, will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 17, 2020 at McWhorter Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 9:00 am prior to the service. J. L. was born February 16, 1932 to James Luther and Clara Berry Shaw in Upshur County and passed from this life September 13, 2020. He married Roma Arrington, January 8, 1954, in Gilmer and he was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Gilmer. He retired from the former Lone Star Steel as an overhead crane operator after 40 years. J. L. is survived by his; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Vera Shaw; granddaughters, Kristin Keith and Jennifer Walton; his twin sister, Crystel Watts; sister, Tyjuana Scribner; and twin sisters, LaRue Adams and RueNell Grounds. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Roma Shaw in 2017; and by his brother, Burl D. Shaw. Pallbearers will be Pat Camp, Larkin Clemons, Larry Cowan, Randy Duke, Curtis Hart and Steve Sansom. Please visit J.
