Bio

John Ellis McCartney, 71, Athens, died Sunday in the Athens-Limestone Hospital. A native of Lauderdale County, he had been in the restaurant business in Athens for a number of years before retiring. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Spry Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Limestone Memorial Gardens. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Cleon G. McCartney, Athens; a son, John Ellis McCartney Jr. of Athens; a grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Lois Romine, Rogersville. (Published Decatur Daily, Decatur, AL, Tuesday, Oct. 18, 1977)
