Bio
August Kotrla left this earth on Tuesday, July, 29, 2008, at the age of 87. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2008, at Providence Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2008, at Taylor Brethren Church with Rev. James Hejl officiating. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery and fellowship to follow at the church. He was born on June 21, 1921, in Weir, Texas, to Joe and Albina Kotrla. He lived in Williamson County until joining the U.S. Army. He served his country proudly for three-and-a-half years. He spent the next 34 years at Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, until his retirement in 1976. He then returned to his roots to work with his sons, farming, raising cattle, and growing vegetables to give to his family and friends. He did so until his illness no longer allowed him to do so. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Olga Kotrla; daughter, Helen; four brothers; and three sisters. His passing is mourned by his wife, Henrietta Gordon; daughter, Betty Mecham of San Antonio, Texas; his sons, Wayne Kotrla and his wife, Debbie, of Cameron, Texas, and Kenneth Kotrla and his wife, Donna, of Hutto, Texas; granddaughter, Lyndsey Kotrla of San Antonio, Texas; and grandson, Joey Loeve of Taylor, Texas; his brother, Albert Kotrla and his wife, Dorothy; his sister, Evelyn Bouska; his sister-in-laws, Mary Kotrla and Dorothy Kotrla; and countless other relatives and friends. He will be missed as he was loved greatly. Memorial contributions can be sent to Taylor Brethren Church Building Fund at P.O. Box 351, Taylor, Texas, 76574.
