Bio

Claudie Leshikar Glover, born December 13, 1907, passed away in Taylor on July 16, 2011. Mrs. Glover was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Houghton Glover; her parents, Frank S. Leshikar and Johanna Svadlevak Leshikar all of Taylor; and her son-in-law, Gordon G. Willis of Lake Jackson. Also preceded in death were sister, Mrs. August (Betty Marie) Kacin of Temple; brothers, E. W. Leshikar (Ruth) of Lake Jackson, John W. Leshikar (Corinne) of Bay City, Ruben B. Leshikar (Jeanette) of Temple, Dr. Marvin J. Leshikar (Jean) of Taylor, and Allen G. Leshikar (Bobbie) of Victoria. She was the last surviving of the seven Leshikar children. Mrs. Glover is survived by her daughter, Dana M. Willis of Lake Jackson; granddaughters and spouses, Grace and Patrick Harrington of Houston, Laurie and William Atkins of Lake Jackson, and Rosemary and Lee Holt of Lake Jackson; great-granddaughters Rita, and Samantha Holt of Lake Jackson; sisters-in-law, Jean Leshikar (Marvin) of Taylor and Jeanette Leshikar (Ruben) of Temple. Her local nieces and nephews are Pamela and Ronald Krueger and Nina and Edwin Marek. There are many more. Mrs. Glover had been very active in the local S.P.J.S.T. Lodge and the Tenth Street Methodist Church. She was well known for her cooking, turkey and dressing, kolaches and many specialties. She was an excellent seamstress. Mrs. Glover had been a resident at the S.P.J.S.T. Rest Home in Taylor. The family would like to thank Mr. Woody Richards, administrator, and the whole staff for their kindness and tender care. Pallbearers will be sons-in-law and nephews. Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Visitation will be Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be Friday, July 22, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Providence Funeral Home with Burial following at the Taylor City Cemetery.
