Bio

Ouida was born in Anderson Co, TX to James Henry and Elizabeth Lively Kirkwood Sr. She married Soffus Torkelson, son of Tarvald T. and Lydia Ann Holcomb Torkelson, 31 August 1929 in Anderson Co, TX. Soffus is buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in San Diego, CA. She later married a Havern. Palestine Herald-Press, Tuesday, 24 August 1971: Mrs. Lora Torkelson Havern, 56, of Baytown, formerly of Anderson County, died Sunday at 2 p.m. in Baytown where she had resided for the past 30 years. Funeral services were scheduled for 3 p.m. today at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Elkhart. Burial will be in Garden of Memories with local arrangements by Hassell and Foster. Mrs. Havern was born November 1, 1914 in Palestine to the late James H & Elizabeth Kirkwood. Survivors include one son, Lt. Cmdr. Jerry Torkelson, with the U.S. Navy at Imperial Beach, Calif., one brother; four sisters and four grandchildren.
