Bio

Monica was born in Litchfield, Nebraska to Stanley and Monica, whom welcomed her along with older sisters, Eloise and Henrietta. Betty joined the family later, and the four sisters were inseparable. Viola graduated early with honors from Omaha South High School in March of 1944. Anyone who knew Vi, knew her love for dance. Dancing led her to her first husband, Fred Turco. They later married and had two daughters, Bonnie and Joanne. Sadly, Fred became ill and passed away. Viola worked at the family grocery store during the day and Kilpatrick's in the evening. Grammy helped take care of Vi's daughters while Vi worked. Vi later decided to go to Beauty School and fulfilled her dreams of opening her own Beauty Shop. She was a great businesswoman and loved the relationships she built. Any opportunity she had, she enjoyed dancing at Sokol with her best friends, Virgie and Vivian. Once again, dancing led her to love when she met Louis Dambrosia. Louis was a Principal and Vi took an accounting job at Commercial Federal. Viola had many loves in her 94 ½ years. She loved to paint, tend to her flowers, keep the perfect lawn, and take pictures (lots and lots of pictures). Vi was a picture fanatic. She would have her granddaughters posing for hours to get the perfect picture. She was a devoted Catholic and attended church every Saturday or Sunday. The common thread woven through her life was her love for dance. Her family would tease her that she had a better social life than all of them combined. She went to the Polish Home…to line dance. She taught…dance. She spent evenings and days after retirement with her sisters…dancing. She would convince her daughters and granddaughters to dance with her in the kitchen. After her stroke in 2008, she hung up her dancing shoes and traded them for Monday night standing dates with her daughters watching "Dancing with the Stars." Viola was happiest when she was with her family. She adored her girls with her whole heart. She was so proud of her daughters, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful woman to so many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. No doubt she danced her way to Heaven.
