He was born at the Point Farm in St. Albans Bay and was the second of ten children of John and Laura (LaRose) Gagnon. Predeceased by his wife, Oretta, in 1968; his second wife, Elsie in 2002; and a son Steve in 1993 Survived by his 3 sons and 1 daughter and their families; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He grew up on farms in Fairfield and St. Albans, and joined the Civilian Conservation Corps 191st Company in 1937 and worked in Vermont and Colorado, on projects from maintenance at the State Parks to building roads. He enlisted in the Army In 1940 and was assigned to the 84th Quartermaster Corps. Married his 1st wife, Oretta Baker, in 1942 and they settled in Colchester, Vt. where they raised their five children. He retired from GE n 1980 after 26 and a half years of service After he retirement he enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, photo developing, woodworking, and had been writing the story of his life, from his earliest memories on the farms in St. Albans and Fairfield, to the raising of his family in Colchester.
