Bio

Mrs. Mary Lesan, Courtenay, who for two years has made her home at the Old Folks Home here, died Saturday morning. Deceased suffered a heart attack Thursday. Funeral services were held Monday at the Presbyterian church, Courtenay, Rev. N.E. McCoy officiating. A quartet, composed of Mrs. Kenneth Helmers, Edith Johnson, Harold Hooper and Howard Fosholdt, sang "In The Garden," "Abide With Me," and "No Light There." Mrs. R.B. Milne was accompanist. Pallbearers were C.H. Prosser, O.T. Fosholdt, Frank Kellogg, A.M. Chidley, Thomas Bradford and George Laing. Burial was in the Courtenay cemetery. Mrs. Lesan was born in Iowa September 9, 1853, and was the mother of eight sons and daughters, five of whom preceded her in death. Survivors are a son, Robert Lesan, Kansas City, Missouri, and two daughters, Mrs. A.A. Hoffman, Courtenay, and Mrs. Luella Watson, Seattle, Washington. Wn. Lesan die many years ago. Here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Merritt Hoffman and family, Minot; Wm. Hoffman, Neville, Sask., Canada; Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Ferguson, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Goffe, Woodworth.
