Bio
Mrs. Luberta Preas, age 94, of Silver Valley, died Saturday, August 25, 2007 at her residence. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 27, 2007 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeff Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home. She was born Elizabeth Luberta Cox on March 3, 1913 in Comanche County, Texas, a daughter of Jesse Johnson Cox and Willie Irene Pate Cox. She moved with her family to Coleman County as a small child where they lived in the White Chapel and Glen Cove area. She attended school at Anderson. On December 4, 1931 she married Curtis Arnold Preas in Coleman County and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1969. She was a homemaker and a member of North Coleman Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Donald J. and Virginia Preas of N. Richland Hills, Cecil Gene and Cynthia Preas of Midland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Irene and M. H. Gildon of Rockport, Brenda and Ervin Wells of Silver Valley; one sister, Sadie Cox of Odessa; one brother, Cecil R. Cox of Odessa; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; son-in-law, Robert Haupert of Farmington, NM; daughter-in-law, Kittie Koukalik of Marana, Arizona; a family friend, Wanda Corder of Silver Valley. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six children, Maxine Malone, Vivian Haupert, Duane Preas, Linda Preas, Larry Preas and Terry Preas; granddaughter, Heather Rogers; great-granddaughter, Micayla Barnett. Family visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big County, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605.
