Alex J. Urbanek, 85 of Taylor went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at Johns Community Hospital. Rosary will be recited at6 PM, Sunday, January 14, 2007 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Mass will be 10 AM, Monday, January 15, 2007 at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery. Alex J. Urbanek was born on August 29, 1921 in Williamson County, Texas to Frank F. and Teresa (Kaspar) Urbanek. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1945. Alex married Alma Ashley in 1946 and they lived in Taylor for most of their life. He was a rancher and a masonry contractor, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Catholic Union of Texas, the K.J.T., the Sons of Herman, and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth Humphries; Elsie Kloesel; Bertha Wheeless; brothers, Leo Urbanek, Frank Urbanek, and Bernard (Bernie) Urbanek. Alex is survived by his loving wife Alma Urbanek of Taylor; sons, Howard Urbanek; Rick Urbanek and wife, Deborah; grandchildren, Stacey and Grady Kunze; Andy and Tami Urbanek; Kendra and Chad Simpson; 2 great granddaughters, Alexandra Kunze and Kristina Miller; 1 great grandson, Jaxon Kunze; and numerous other relatives and friends. Pallbearers will be Andy Urbanek, Grady Kunze, Chad Simpson, David Auld, John Maruska, and Preston Hegar. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Pullen, Joe Kropp, and Calvin Janak, Sr. The family would like to thank the staff of Johns Community Hospital and S.P.J.S.T.
