Bio

Calvin Edvin Mikulencak, 82, was called home on Tuesday, May 15, 2007. Calvin was born on August 27, 1924, in Taylor, Texas, to Frank and Mary (Pokorny) Mikulencak. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., with a short prayer service at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 17, 2007, at Providence Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2007, at Providence Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Bielfeldt officiating. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery. On October 6, 1946, he was married to Dorothy Hilda Freda Randig in Beeville, Texas. He lived in Thrall for most of his life. Calvin was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Thrall. Calvin was a metal furnace operator at Alcoa for 32 years. He loved spending time with his family and working in his yard and his garden. Calvin was always smiling and thus acquired his nickname "Smiley." He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Rudolph, Daniel, and Albert; sisters, Ruth and Mary; and son-in-law, Dave Thompson. Calvin is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Dorothy Mikulencak of Thrall; four sons, Harvey and Michelle Mikulencak of Austin, William (Bill) and Pam Mikulencak of Taylor, Calvin and Nancy Mikulencak of Taylor, and Darrell and Jennifer Mikulencak of Thrall; four daughters, Alice and Gaylon Finn of Coupland, Betty and Darrell Malish of Thrall, Lisa Thompson of Pflugerville, and Linda and Craig Albert of Thrall; brother, Frank and Dorothy Mikulencak of Taylor; In-laws, LaVerne and Walter Stephens, Kitty and Richard (Dick) Randig, and Doris and Melvin (Mac) Randig, all of Taylor. He was loved by his grandchildren who survive him, Shane and Lindsay Mikulencak, Chris and Kate Mikulencak, Tessa and David Daniel, Melanie and Lauren Mikulencak, Stephanie and Josh Ochoa, Beau Finn, Misty, Kristina, Matthew, and Kacy Malish, Landon Mikulencak, Chelsea and Zachary Thompson, and Ashton and Allison Albert; step-grandchildren, Adam and Patti Woods, and Jason Woods; great-grandchildren, Ava Mikulencak; Ella Mikulencak, and Brodie Connell. Pallbearers will be Shane Mikulencak, Chris Mikulencak, Beau Finn, Matthew Malish, Zachary Thompson, Kenny Mikulencak, Dennis Mikulencak, and Clarence Marx. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church in Thrall or the charity of your choice in Calvin's memory.
